I saw a grandmother pull her grandson away from a store’s Chanukah display like it would burn him

– ENID*

I was at the Christmas Tree Shops in Natick three years ago. I was admiring a lovely round display of Chanukah items. A young boy of maybe 4 or 5 years of age ran over and picked up a small white bear with a Jewish star. A moment later, a woman who I thought was his grandmother stomped over to us. She grabbed the bear from him and threw it at the display. Then speaking to him but staring at me said, “Get away from that Jew @$!*.” She then pushed him back to the aisle where his mother was standing and walked away. Obviously, I was in shock and angry. But I felt so sad for that innocent child to have to grow up with such hate from a family member. I cleaned up the items that fell from the display and left the store.
